As a recreational body builder you are not allowed to buy testosterone supplements for personal use. You are however allowed to take supplements that will naturally boost your body’s own testosterone level. This has given rise to a body building supplements called a testosterone booster and Tribulus terrestris is one of the better known entrants in this market.
Andro-T from Stacklabs is a good source of Tribulus terrestris, containing 750mg of Tribulus terrestris (45% grade) per serving. But what exactly is Tribulus terrestris?
Put simply, T. terrestris is a plant, making Andro-T a natural supplement. This plant prefers a warm, temperate climate, can survive in poor soil and desert areas and is native to Australia, Africa, Asia and Southern Europe. It is introduced in North America and is even considered a weed in some areas. Other names for the plant include yellow vine, cathead, puncturevine, caltrop, goathead, bindii and burra gokharu.
Its genuine use as a body building supplement is in contention as there simply has been too few studies to fully investigate its effects. It has had a fraction of the analysis of the more well known supplements such as creatine (as creatine is a naturally occurring substance in the body ) which has been investigated since the turn of the last century.
Having said that, the first notable study done on this plant was back in the 1970’s Bulgarian researchers found it boosted free testosterone and lutenizing hormone (LH) in men belonging to infertile couples. It is estimated that T. Terrestris increases the production of LH in the body and this in turn increases the production of testosterone. This increase is then responsible for in muscle mass and lean body mass which in turn increases athletic performance and libido.
Is This Product Safe?
No product can be called 100% safe (even if or only legal reasons), however there have been few adverse effects reported from its use. Some reports have included an upset stomach which can be countered by ingesting food. And a very rare side effect is gynaecomastia (however the report indicates that the product was not tested for what exact compounds the supplement contained or any contamination).
If you are looking for creatine or other body building supplements such as testosterone boosters, please check out Stacklabs in our catalogue. And if you are after protein supplements, we would suggest Egg Whites International. Just use the menu on the left to find those two products.
